Yoga Nidra Meditation & Restorative Workshop with Evangeline 2/26 3:30 - 5 PM

  Date:   February 26, 2012
     Place: Revolution Yoga
     Time:  3:30-5pm
     Fee:    $25 pp

Come and join Evangeline for a profound experience of a meditation practice. Yoga Nidra is a simple guided meditation technique that is practiced while lying down on the floor in a supine position (savasana or corpse pose).  While the body is very still and relaxed, the mind is aware as you listen to the voice of the teacher guiding you through the meditation practice.

Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep or having a trace of awareness.  It is the sleep after throwing off the three basic types of tension which are muscular, emotional and mental tension.  The brain goes into the Alpha state or hypnogogic state. Prolonging the Alpha state allows for deep healing on all levels of our being. Research has found that fifteen minutes of

Yoga Nidra is equivalent to four hours of sleep.

One emerges from the practice of Yoga Nidra feeling fresh, invigorated and inspired. Yoga Nidra can be practiced at any time and place or after a regular yoga class. We will begin with a thirty minute restorative yoga practice followed by one hour of yoga nidra meditation. Experience absolute relaxation and deep self-awareness through the practice of Yoga Nidra.

Reminder: Dress warmly, socks, long sleeve shirt or light jacket.

During this fun and energizing class our natural movements are re-integrated into our bodies, which have been deprived of these natural rhythms for too long.  In the process we’ll improve our Range of Motion, Strength, balance, Precise and efficient forms of exercise, and agility with Flow and Flexibility.  Workshop Leader Joey Naham has worked with Budokon Master Kancho Shayne,  Camp Anchor, Long Island Green Market, SUNY Farmingdale Horticultural Department, and Ifly just to name a few.

“My own eight years of experience practicing Budokon is gauged at how much freedom I benefited from this disciplined practice.   I applied, both, my mind and my bodies resources of integrating natural thoughtfulness, and movements, and ended a torn ligament and two torn tendons injury without any surgery in a year when experts had predicted it would be five years until recovery. I am freer to recover from physical and mental injuries because of the comforting neural muscular stimulation that’s exerted through proper pose application. Concentrated thoughts on exploiting weaknesses (The Budo Aspect), and strengths (The Yogic Aspect) freed myself from extreme concentrations of stress.”

“There are several creative individuals and organizations that I’ve worked with and engaged to bring myself to the level of my practice that I am at today.”  - Joey Naham

CALL FOR ARTISTS and POETS

Gallery RECEPTION March 10, 6pm-9pm

Including a Poetry Slam 7pm-8pm

Refreshments and
live music!

Revolution Yoga is excited to present their 3rd show featuring talented local artists and poets. We challenge our artists to submit a variety of work that encompasses this show's theme:

"WHY?"

Art is a form of personal expression and purity of the soul. Why?...because it tells us more about our selves than history, science or religion does. Why?...because it captures the human soul like no other subject can. Why?...because it touches the human spirit in a way for all to enjoy. Humans crave individualism and have a natural curiosity to ask questions, to solve problems, and to seek deeper meaning to our existence. Why?...has become our inspiration for self expression in this art show.

As artists, we present our questions and our answers in creative, beautiful, and inspiring ways - so tell us a story, provide us with answers, teach us about the deeper meaning in life, using your creative mediums. From oil on canvas to collage, sculpture, hand-painted black and white photography, video installation, music, or poetry, tell us WHY?.

Be in our show!

To submit artwork, email revolutionyoga@gmail.com with up to 3 digital images of your work.

Submission fees for artwork: 1 piece for $12, 2 for $15, or 3 for $17.
